I wish we would all try harder to say what we mean instead of saying "
breastfeeding" or "bottlefeeding" (regardless of how we spell the words).

Breastfeeding can mean a mother's milk obtained at her breast directly, or
her own milk, donated milk, or a formula obtained through a supplemental
device of some sort at mother's breast. Breastfeeding can also mean that
baby obtains milk from/at another mother's breast.

Bottlefeeding could mean formula obtained through a bottle, or mother's own
or donated milk obtained through a bottle, or it might mean formula
feedings regardless of container.

A considerable number of mothers today say that they " breastfeed" but
actually never or rarely put their babies to breast. They pump and usually
feed their milk by bottle.

Then there are folks who say that mothers neither breastfeed or bottlefeed.
Their babies do. Woe is me!
