Rachel, belated thanks for mentioning our article, my co-author is Sam
Oddie, and he is actually a neo-natologist (I am actually not sure how that
differs from a paediatrician).  It is my -- our -- hope that the article,
which was started out in the spirit of 'let us see what point of view each
of us has on this early weighing business and see where we agree and
disagree -- and debate the areas of disagreement', and which ended up with
us in a very *great deal* of agreement, will be useful to midwives, and
other relevant professionals.

Because of my literature search and fieldwork experiences for my PhD on the
topic of routine weighing in community clinics and the influence on
breastfeeding, I had developed quite a sceptical view of weighing babies,
and the process of researching the article, writing it, and debating things
with Sam Oddie made me re-evalute my own position and moved me on to a
somewhat different point of view.   Everyone should be so lucky as to be
involved in such an exercise!!
