Sorry I am so behind on posts...

Jeanette asked about having a free-standing outpatient facility for helping
moms after discharge from the hospital. Ours is such a clinic.

We are not sponsored by any hospital. We are a nonprofit center funded by
retail sales, pump rentals, fees for consultations(from those able to pay) a
couple of SMALL private grants (totalling $18,000 so far) and a very few
private individual donations.

One of these days I plan to "write up" how we got started and our progress
so far...maybe for our 2-year anniversary coming up in Feb.

But the basic structure is myself ( a pediatrician/IBCLC)  and 2 RN/IBCLCs,
5 breastfeeding educators and 2 support group leaders. (2 of the
breastfeeding educators are awaiting IBCLC exam results...both non-RNs) I
think it could be done without an MD, but I do believe it has helped with
credibility, and it certainly is more convenient to be able to call in that
Diflucan/Dicloxicillin/APNO. If anyone out there is interested in trying
something similar, I would approach any female FP/Pedi who just had a baby
or has small children...chances are they feel like I did and are looking for
a way out of their current job.

Hope that's helpful-

education, support and related supplies in Lincoln, NE
