Dear Lactnet, When I asked the question about wrapping babies with arms tightly at their sides I had no idea how far the discussion would go, I thank each and everyone who responded. I am preparing to give an inservice on this subject. My main point will be to not wrap babies with arms at side,so that can give hunger cues. Also to not wrap at all at nursing time so has good skin to skin contact with mother ,and to wrap with arms out when not being held. The head is where the most heat loss occurs I learned in my many years in NICU.Babies even in utero kick with feet and push with their hands and even suck on fingers, hands, toes etc. at that time. Any thing else important to add to the inservice would be greatly appreciated. Again thanks for the many responses.
