There is a lot of information about this on the internet. It is called
encopresis. I have been involved in a discussion about it on another list and
what troubles me is that there is little effort to understand its origins.
Why do some children develop this problem that is defended as normal
behaviour? And, from what I have read, it seems like a very common
problem--again it strikes me as nutrition-related, perhaps food allergies,
but perhaps some kind of deficiency--maybe magnesium? It also troubles me
that mineral oil is used, when there may be better options. There are also
some sites on the web where more long-term treatment does result in cures. I
would imagine that integrated manual therpay could be very helpful. I would
be curious as to how often this condition evolves in children fed AIM vs
those who are bf and how often it occurs in bf children who have received no
AIM at all vs those who received even one bottle of AIM.
