<<"You can satisfy your baby's sucking needs one of
two ways: 1. Use a pacifier; 2. You as a pacifier.>>

Even in the most magnanimous nod to the pacifier,
surely the breast that baby seeks should come first as
a consideration for new parents. He went on, and I
could as well although I am preaching to the choir on
Lactnet. I understand the play on language however
... ultimately the pacifier leads.

I'd like to see the book and video but the excerpts
make me wonder.

I am happy to see Good Nights and Sweet Dreams added
to the shelves but such books are often crowded out by
books intended to help parents shortcut to a quiet
house.

Not every quiet baby is a healthy baby. I've seen
several "well-behaved" babies this past week I would
describe as under-weight and under-responsive to the
breast. Their mothers are extremely concerned with
"non-nutritive" sucking, sleep issues, pacifiers, and
the time their babies "demand" although the babies do
little "demanding" in my presence.

I'd like to to see a whole lot more biology go into
the parenting books mothers have precious little time
to read.
