thanks so much, lynn for your response:

the baby is, unfortunately not doing that great at the breast, although i
haven't seen the baby personally, as they live over an hour away.  mom
describes inefficient feeds, and lots of on and off action.  i suspect
possible thrush/yeast as well, and she is looking into that.  she is not
pumping enough (although she is pumping 8 times a day!) to meet this baby's
needs, so at this time, it seems, some supplement is necessary.  i just
wonder if regular formula might be better.  she really needs hands on help,
but i don't know if that's going to happen for her.  she should be
supplementing at the breast,  but needs help getting that going.  thansk
again for your input.
