Nine times out of ten, if I use a nipple shield with a mom, she and baby will
go on to successful breastfeeding. However (many of you know what I am
dealing with here), there are the select few who are fearful to let go of the
device. I would really love to help one of my mom's get rid of the nipple
shield once and for all. She had a baby who needed a frenotomy, and probably
never would have nursed if it weren't for the nipple shield. However, since
the procedure has been done, she has been reluctant to drop the shield. Any
pearls of wisdom out there on how to help mom and baby survive without the
nipple shield? Let me just say that I do have my ways, but I would love to
get others.
