<What are the current Australian rates (roughly) for initiation,
exclusivity,
and duration?>
Diane, we have nationally representative data collected in 1995 (for
children aged up to 4 years at the time of the survey).
- 81.8% were breastfed on hospital discharge
- 62.6% breastfeeding at 3 months
- 46.2% at 6 months
- 21.2% at 12 months.
It is too hard to give estimates of exclusive bf b/c of the way the
questions were asked.
