<<you can also suggest flax seed oil which also or evening primrose oil
which are both what vegetarians lean towards for fatty oil
supplementation. >>

absolutely. but you have to take about 10x the flax oil to get an
equivalent amount of DHA as would be in the dose of fish oil. And EPO,
while very popular, doesn't have the same essential fatty acid profile.
It's heavy on the omega 6's and 9's which are already heavily over
represented in our western diets: nuts, seeds, sunflower oil, safflower
oil. if it's not olive, flax or butter, it's got *alot* of 6's and 9's.

an optimal ration of 3's to 6's is probably 1-4:1 A typical
american diet is 1:29. Oops. Fascinating, well documented info on this
in the book _The Omega Diet_ and on www.mercola.com

<<As far as the fish oil capsules are concerned, the oil is a
concentrate and is usually pretty processed and refined. I have not
heard of a risk of any mercury levels with the OTC caps. >>

mm hmm. Fish is a big problem in and of itself, but the highly refined
oils dont have the same problem. Or I should say don't *always* have
the same problem. It's worth researching brands to make sure since
mercury contamination is so detrimental to health.
