Hi, my name is Christy Whiteside I am the mother of six children... still
breastfeeding my two and a half year old. I have had the privilege and honor
of working for and with Jay Gordon for the past 16 years. I do home visits
for his patients and I do a lot of telephone triage.
Happy to meet all of you. I think lactnet is a wonderful tool of comradely
and knowledge.
I have a rather interesting story...I went to a couple's home to visit and
evaluate the baby and answer the questions of the new and curious parents.
The father was from Italy the mother was Swedish she has a girlfriend who
told her that in Sweden a woman gave her seashells to place inside her bra
for sore nipples. She also said before putting the "shells" in the bra to
express a small amount of milk into them. Has anyone ever heard of this? I
asked the women to let me know what kind of shells they are and if they are
taken directly from the ocean or are they processed and cleaned first? Let
me know if you've heard of this before..I searched the archives and came up
with nothing....I'm new so maybe my search wasn't complete.
Thanks,
Christy Whiteside, I.B.C.L.C.
