I'm an IBCLC in the Netherlands and I have been contacted by a mother with
the following problem. She has an almost 2-years old toddler who still is
breastfed. Because of severe allergyproblems in the family this mother
takes a cowmilk-, eggs-, sojamilkfree diet. Since a few months the mother
had various healthproblems, so she went to her GP and osteoporose was
diagnosed. The docter suggested her to stop bf, start giving her child
littles amounts of milk, so the child gets used to milk, and to start think
of her own health by taking enough calcium. But this mother doesn't want to
give up the bf en she also doesn't want to give her child milk.
What advise can I give her. Is there anyone who dealed with a simular
problem? Please, let me know.
Greeting from Erica
