It bothers me greatly that studies that promote the loving act of
breastfeeding come off so clinical and are used to promote "achieving
results." I completely understand the use of evidence-based research for
medical, scientific and promotional purposes, and I am well aware of how
formula conglomerates and breastfeeding/bottlefeeding products companies and
others use this research, so please no flames.

Raising a healthy, loved child to me is not for the purpose of, in spite of,
or because of evidence-based research or "achieving results." It's not just
"breastfeeding", but breastloving, breastteaching, breastraising and most of
all, breastmothering. Evidence-based research doesn't mean anything when
your baby won't latch, you haven't seen it done, haven't had good support,
don't know where to find it, had a less than desirable birth, are healing,
are seeing and hearing your baby wail, and you've just about had it with
this "nursing thing". Why can't we just allow ourselves to be mothers and
to help them mother? And there's even evidence-based research on this too.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
