Dear Friends:
The "hypoallergenic", hydrolyzed formulae have the cow milk proteins
smashed into pieces. There have been several cases of anaphylaxis in babies
receiving this type of formula because the littler protein bits can get
through the gut wall. One article recommends that babies get the first dose
of this in a place where medical care can be immediately given.
Of course, at this hour of the night, I can't quote chapter and verse.
But it is there.
     Warmly,
Nikki Lee RN, MSN, Mother of 2, IBCLC, CIMI, CCE
