Nikki...thanks for the correction to DO NOT ask. But thought I would add to
it....even IF they did ask, many hospitals do not have anyone there to help
them anyway! Or, who they do have is really not qualified to help, or when
qualified only works part time, not on weekends, or simply to busy doing the
work of 4 all alone to spend more than the token moment with the mom and
baby.
And in case it seems I think "smooshing" is a good idea, I don't. I just
understand where the behavior comes from. That and years of being taught
Rapid Arm Movement methods of latching to overcome. I feel sorry for the poor
little darlings being yanked into the world and then shoved on to eat.
Doesn't really seem like a warm welcome. I agree with all comments about
what "should be" and long for the day when what should be becomes what is.
