Dear Wise Ones,
Hi. I saw a mom in work with her baby who was a 25 weeker. He was 800 g at birth and then went down to 600 g. He is now 4 1/2 months (46 weeks) and the mother has been pumping the whole time. She would like to get him feeding at the breast. He does not do anything when put to the breast. He has never been there. He also has a double hernia which will be operated on at 1 year. What advice do those of you who work with such premies have? I have never worked with one this early.
Thanks,
Jessica Billowitz, IBCLC
