Maybe someone else mentioned this but I have to jump in and say in my area
of SE Houston, I get lots of LLL helping calls but few, few moms will leave
messages on the answering machine. I have also had many women get mad at ME
because they have called "four other LLL people and NO ONE answered the
phone." In the last six months, I even got a "gripe out" call at 8:30 AM on
a Saturday morning!

I leave a co-Leaders name on my machine for those needing immediate help but
people don't even seem to be listening to the message and calling her.

I also have had women call me and demand (not ask for) a home visit. I think
Leaders used to make more home visits years ago, but as our society gets
busier and busier and we trust strangers less and less, many Leaders don't
have the time or inclination to do home visits now days.

Those few women who do leave messages, I always call them back and seems
like 80% of the time, I get their machines. I leave a message but they don't
call me back, so I never know if they got help or not.

I believe two weeks is way, way too long to return a phone call. But, people
go on vacation, etc. My suggestion when you hear these things about LLL is
to call the Leader directly and find out. There is nothing wrong with asking
a question and trying to find out how LLL works in your area. Perhaps there
is another Leader, someone more responsible, that you could direct calls to.

If there is a Leader out there who never answers calls, it is my opinion she
needs to know how she is hurting LLLI's image and hurting those moms
depending on her. You can also call LLLI and get the name of the area
representatives and let them know what problems you are experiencing.
