Thanks for that account of blood donating/selling, Kathy. Also, I had
forgotten about sperm donations.

It's the same here. The going rate is £15 per sample (I think that is
about 20 US dollars).

I don't feel uncomfortable about sperm donations - except there is an
issue about  insemination by anonymous donor, and subsquent offspring
not being able to trace their genetic history (which is definitely
off topic, so no more!).

Yet with the right marketing, you could certainly get men to donate
their sperm free, I think, if it was something life-saving like blood
or milk (which it isn't, really).  Once everyone had stopped being
embarrassed about masturbation, it would be seen a just another thing
you can do for your fellow humans.

We can also donate bone marrow in the UK; this is done free, too.  I
think this is done elsewhere, too.
