I am just now catching up on loads of Lactnet, but I enjoyed the threads
about children nursing thousands of times a night ( I do tend to exagerate
sometimes...) But for those of you who remember, I have surely been there,
just 6 short months ago, and oh can I feel for you. I always had this
terrible tug of war with myself because I really wanted to continue BF, but
could not deal with waking up so much. At 26 months, I began to feel
resentful when my son would push me off my own bed at night. I guess some
kids like to cuddle close, and some like to sleep horizontal with all limbs
splayed outwards. The only way I solved my short term problem for my
sanity was starting him on a bottle! Shock! I know, how stupid can you
get! Now I wake up for other reasons... Can anyone relate to waking up wet
in the middle of the night because your childs diaper has leaked on to you?
The joys of parenthood. I can only wonder how we will get rid of the
bottle. I keep telling myself, "This time around, with this new baby I
will finally get it right!" I think some people just have sleepers in
their genes, and some don't. I find it interesting however, that although
at the time I really felt I needed to check into the loony bin for sleep
disruption, now I only have the fondest memories of that time. Funny how
things work.
We are saving up for a bigger bed...
For those older Lactnetters whose kids are grown, how does it feel to sleep
8 uniterrupted hours a night?
I guess I have a good 15 years to go...
