Hi there...I've been quiet this week due to presentation prep, grading
midterms, and a very heavy client load. I need some help with one new mom
who has yeast and a cluster nursing 3 week old and who wants to have baby
sleep with her. I encouraged her to do this and the husband went ballistic
saying that she'd roll over the baby. I gave her Dr. James McKenna's
references and several co-sleeping/family bed clips, but her husband wants
EXACT RELATIVE RISK OR ODDS RATIOS for deaths of babies in the cribs versus
in their parents beds. Due to my swamped load, I can't go digging, but
thought one of my oh so wise colleagues (yes, I'm sucking up big time) might
have the RR and citation for it handy. I should also mention that this
husband thought that the mom would smother the baby with her breast, but
that he is adamant that she breastfeed. We won't go there about control
issues as he works with my husband. Please email me privately as well as to
the list as I'm about 50 digests behind right now.
Warmest, sunny wishes to all!
