Rather than spending time blaming moms for their inappropriate choices, we
need to put the blame where it belongs--not on the mother. What industries
are responsible for sabotaging breastfeeding? Who influences mothers to use
infant formula? Mothers make the choices they do because they have been
influenced by the advertising and marketing of infant formula. The blame
lies squarely on the formula/drug industry and a government that has enmeshed
itself with the interests of that industry. And let us not forget that the
medical community has a high degree of responsibility in the sabotaging of
breastfeeding.

Mothers are blamed for everything that goes wrong with their children. Let's
not play that game. Focusing on mothers, lets the real culprits escape their
responsibility in this whole mess. Valerie W. McClain, IBCLC
