Magda,
I'm pleased that you like this!

<Amir, LH, Dennerstein, L, Galrand, SM and Farish, SJ, Psychological aspects
of nipple pain in lactating women, 1996, J Psychosom. Obstet. Gynecol 17
53 -58
They conclude: "when a clinician sees a crying, irritable, tired woman it
should not be assumed that the woman has postnatal depression: if she is
suffering nipple pain, this may be the explanation.....in most cases
resolution of their pain will improve their emotional well-being.">

I wrote this b/c we had used the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale and
many people assume that if a woman scores above the cut-off on the scale
that she has PND. She certainly is depressed / anxious/ worried /down/etc at
that time when she has significant breastfeeding problems, but if the scale
is repeated a few days (or weeks) later when things are going well - she may
fall in the "normal" range.

The person who is planning to give the talk about bf and depression should
be familiar with the population-based studies that have found an association
between artificial feeding and depression. (In case other speakers present
mis-information about this). I think these refs should be in the archives.
