Pat, uniphyl is theophylline, and I would not think this is a drug that
anyone in 2000 would use for the treatment of asthma. There are so many
other safer and more effective choices. Unless there is a really good reason
to use this drug that you didn't mention, I would not trust this physician's
approach to treatment.

With very high protein binding and poor absorption, I would not think
zafirlukast would be a problem. The physician's statement about causing
tumors in rats and therefore causing it in the baby is a strange one. But is
he not concerned, then, about it causing tumors in the mother?

There are lots of other drugs available for treating asthma.
