Oh Kathy, LOL!

<< I know other adults in the US who poop several times a day, often without
any pattern at all from day to day. I find this highly bizarre (being,
personally, the kind of gal who poops every morning between 6:30 and 6:45
am, and not at other times of the day), but they seem to think this normal,
and find it bizarre that someone should be as regular as I am. >>

When I was about 4 hours postpartum with my first child, a nurse came into my
room with a four page questionaire that I "had to" give answers to. I
patiently worked my way through it with her until she got to the question,
"How often do you regularly move your bowels?" I was about to contemplate
this question bemusedly when she hastily added, "Before you were pregnant, I
mean!" I burst out laughing on the spot. BEFORE I was pregnant? Who knew?
I never kept track of my poops before I was pregnant!

When I talk about bf awareness to prospective mothers I do talk about
counting bowel movements as a fail-safe check on baby's health and mom's
supply. But other than that, I basically think this topic is a good one for
the motto "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." If your poops are not so
frequent as to wear an bigger hole in your tushy (my three year old's recent
description of diarrhea), and not so firm or so infrequent as to make any
part of your digestive tract uncomfortable, WHY would this topic be of
general interest at all?
