I think we are mixing things up here. *If* we state that exclusive breastfeeding
is sufficient for an x amount of time, we need to mean exclusive breastfeeding
and not mingle our recomendations with measurements for non-exclusive
breastfeeding. Therefor I propose to re-write the recommendations to: exclusive
breastfeeding is sufficient for an x amount of time (don't drag me into the
numbers-game), but if breastfeeding is not exactly exclusive complementation
will have to start earlier. Well, doesn't that sound rediculous? If
breastfeeding is not exclusive it is already *is* complemented, or not? This no
longer is a number game, but a language game.
So either we talk about exclusive breastfeeding or we don't, where exclusive
breastfeeding means NPO exept for breastmilk.
And if we agree on that, shouldn't the WHO recommendations read 6 instead of 4-6
months? Recommendations are about what should be, not about what currently is.
