According to what I have been taught, the vitamin D content in breast milk is stable regardless of supplementation to mother.  Perhaps this should make us wonder about supplementation but I don't have the qualifications to go there tonight.
Here in Norway they recommend sunlight on face for 30 minutes a day to ensure sufficient endogenous vitamin D.  The duration could well be related to our latitude, so the recommendation should not be used at less arctic latitudes.
Because of our location cod liver oil (let's hear it for the cod liver oil again, folks!) is emphasized in all the months when you can eat oysters in the US--all the months with "R" in the name.
