If you havent' delved into our archives, you may want to try it as it is so
easy to use now and gives a wealth of info. There will be many opinions on
the pros and cons and whys and wherefores of suggesting (?prescribing)
herbs.
I feel that the client is entitled to the info. I give it just as that -
information. I am not recommending that she use the herbs. But I will say,
some doctors, LCs, bf clinics, or some moms find herbs to be helpful in
these situations. I say here is a handout on the herbs and that I recommend
the mom discuss the use of said herbs with her primary physician or
pharmacist. Becoz I am not a doctor, nor a pharmacist, and maybe not savvy
to all her medical history or med. use and med. interaction, I feel it best
for her to consult with her doc. Now if she does not do it, that is her
choice. I usually write on top of the handout "please discuss with your MD
before using." Have not had a problem with this. Granted, this is a tricky
situation and I would not want to lose clients becoz the MD thought I was
being unprofessional or careless. I would try to have a dialogue with the
doc, but ultimately it is an option I feel I have to inform the client
about, just like frenotomy or any other intervention that I feel may help
the client.
