Well fellow lactneters I'm 2 for 2 in the negative. Recently I was working
with a 44 yr old 4 x mom who was adopting a newborn and wished to
breastfeed:). So we worked together on pumping and after delivery I even got
her OB to order Reglan:) BUT here is the sad part. While in IL picking up
newborn mom developed horrible rash. She was taking Reglan, blessed thistle
and fennugreek. Rash was described as "red splotches and tiny blisters
resembling poison ivy" "itching was intense" and the fluid was the burst
blisters burned like fire. The rash covered her upper body and chest. She
finally end up in ER, on prednisone and took two weeks to heal. One month
later she still has scars from the rash! On top of that she got a sinus
infection requiring antbx. Needless to say, baby wont take breast at all,
and no milk supply. Mom is disappointed as am I.
Any insights on this rash? Any one seen this before? Mom had never taken
any of the herbs or Reglan before so I guess could be rxn to any or all?
Thanks!
