I agree, Ilene. And this is why I support and encourage others to support
ILCA's efforts to inform and educate the public and health care systems
about the role of the ibclc, and to market the ibclc to the public and to
health care. So moms and docs and nurses etc know who to turn to for bf
help. Also why moms need to be informed about peer support like LLL, NMAA,
etc (which is BFHI step 10) and I encourage all LCs to provide this info and
make a referral. And why I support the national bf mediawatch campaign (USA)
and encourage all of us bf advocates to write letters etc when bf in the
media is portrayed negatively or incorrectly or when a positive piece shows
up. Anyone interested in mediawatch in USA can contact me for info. I can
put you in touch with the national coordinator.
