Hi there. I do not think that most hospital grade pumps, if used correctly
and with proper suction levels, normally cause bloody milk or damage to
breast/nipple tissue.
I also think that hand expression has its place as well.
I would question what is going on with this mother's breast, ie does she
have some other problem, like intraductal papilloma, or other condition?
Damage from incorrect positioning?
If the pump is not hospital quality, this may be the problem as well.
